This year’s Renegades Annual Golf Day will take place at Ocean View golf course on Friday 14th August (5.30pm shotgun start). The competition will take the usual Captains Choice format with teams consisting of members, non-members, non-golfers and rookies.

A vast and expensive selection of prizes will be on offer for the following:

Men's Longest Drive
Men's Closest to the Pin
Women's Longest Drive
Women's Closest to the Pin
Overall Team winners

Previous winner Paddy “The Wexford Horse" Furlong is said to be in the form of his life in the run up to the event. Furlong stated “to be sure I’m in the form of me life. The wife said she’s never seen anybody as long”. However, Paddy’s longest drive title could be on the line this year as the fat Rory McIlroy (John Quigley) has been spending hours on his game in the run up to this year’s tournament. Given the usual speed of his play, the numerous hours practice have only resulted in a couple of practice swings.

In the absence of Lewis O’Brien hopefully this year’s event will run a lot smoother. Cries of “shambles” could be heard echoing around the grandstands last year but that may have been due to Furlong striking a taxi with his tee shot on the Par 3 9th or Pettles attempts at “Sand Bunker Diving”. Also of note was Des Nash bringing his son’s clubs by accident, however his team mates thought that this actually improved his golf.

Following the trophy presentation in the clubhouse, the merriment will continue at our sponsors, The Beach Bistro.
