If only the same could be said for our MC Bennet who appears to be insistent on making sure every sentence he utters is an offensive expletive filled tirade as he continues with his Diet-Frankie Boyle schtick.

The Renegades RFC Annual Dinner was held at Bolero on Saturday June 27th to celebrate another double winning season for the Men’s team, and a slightly less successful season for the women.

The guest speaker for the night was Teachers RFC and Bermuda national team legend Brian Desmond who gave a very entertaining speech. Also a first for an Irish guest speaker in that he didn’t drop the c-bomb repeatedly, which was a surprising and nice change.

If only the same could be said for our MC Bennet who appears to be insistent on making sure every sentence he utters is an offensive expletive filled tirade as he continues with his Diet-Frankie Boyle schtick. Other than that he did a good job, however I think I speak for all of us when I say, Carmel you have lovely bosoms and they are not too big at all. I would contend they are just right.

Anyway I digress and official awards for the night were as follows, for the men:-

  • Player of the Year - Barry Archibald
  • Rookie of the Year - Paul Kelly (they were delighted back in Middle Earth!
  • Most Improved - Fijian Tony
  • Young Player of the Year - Calum ‘…what’s a….” Maule

For the ladies:-

  • Player of the Year - Jess Cassidy
  • Rookie of the Year - Laura Mulligan
  • Most Improves - Lynda Wahl

And a general/unisex award:-

  • Club Person of the Year - Brid Casserly

So the evening concluded with the obligatory (and controversial) MVP’s as presented by Melissa Field and further thanks go to Brid and Kacie for organizing, our guest speaker Brian Desmond and his lovely wife Lana for attending, Canon Norman Lynas for saying grace, Bennet for ‘MC-ing’ and finally to Bolero for putting on a lovely spread and putting up with us again for another year.

So here’s to next season…
