Dear Old Boys

I am pleased to announce that for the Renegades RFC 60th Anniversary dinner returning to speak will be former Welsh Captain Gwyn Jones.

He spoke at our dinner in 2012 and we are very pleased he has agreed to return after one of the best speeches in the club’s recent history. He promises he has some new material!

Coming from a rugby family, his great uncle Ivor Jones was capped by Wales and toured NZ and Australia with the 1930 British & Irish Lions. Gwyn captained Wales under-15 and under-17 and progressed into the professional game with Llanelli. He combined his professional career with training to become a doctor.

Moving to Cardiff he won the first of his international caps in 1996 vs Italy and went on to be capped 13 times with his last international vs New Zealand in 1997. His career was cut tragically short by a spinal injury in December 1997 vs Swansea and unfortunately never played again.

He underwent an extensive period of rehabilitation and recovery from his injury and qualified as a doctor. He also has developed into one of the most outspoken and respected rugby pundits appearing regularly on BBC Wales flagship rugby program Scrum V.

Please let me know if you would like a ticket, tickets or even a table (he hinted) - these are very reasonably priced at $135, with the dinner taking place in the Hamilton Princess Trudeau Ballroom on Saturday May 5th (poster attached). Gwyn will be presenting the player awards for both the Men's and the Ladies team this season.

It represents fantastic value at this price so I do hope you can support this event.

Please contact me at mikewilliamsbda@gmail.com or by return to this email if you would like to attend.

With thanks and kind regards

Mike Williams
