Pre-season training announced by our new 1st XV captain - Bennet Gibson

For those who are new to Renegades, welcome to the club.

The start of the 2014/2015 season is fast approaching and it’s time to start putting in some pre-season work. The importance of pre-season training in terms of providing the core fitness and fundamental skills necessary for the long season ahead cannot be stressed enough.

The initial focus for the first couple of weeks will be on improving fitness levels. We will try to vary the content of these sessions as much as possible, introducing something new each week to avoid repetition. I appreciate that fitness sessions are not the most appealing prospect on a summers evening after a day of work. With this in mind we will continue to have beach rugby for an additional 2/3 weeks post Cup Match. This will still include a 30 minute fitness session beforehand followed by the usual game of touch, swim and beers.

For the first couple of weeks we plan to train as a club, men and women. Around 3-4 weeks out from our first game, we will revert back to our own sessions. The respective captains/coaches will forward on more details of the training schedule in due course.
