Renegades come back from 13-0 down to close in on the league title

Renegades came back from 13-0 down to score 23 unanswered points to claim the win and deny the Police a bonus point. It might have been Valentines weekend, but there was no love lost between the 2 teams in this brutal encounter. Police started very strongly, running in 2 tries early on and Renegades looked to be in trouble with the score at 13-0 after 20 mins. However, after a Police penalty, Renegades put pressure on straight from the kick off, turning over the ball and getting a try back. The pressure continued and Renegades were rewarded with a long range penalty to close the gap. The Police were not giving up yet though and continued to threaten the Renegades try line. At a key point in the game, the Police opted to take a tap penalty 5 metres out, but a solid defense stopped their big runners short of the line and turned the ball over. After the break, it was all Renegades and the Police struggled to get out of their own half. The Renegades pack drove over for a second try and Barry Archibald sealed the win with 2 more penalties. Tries were scored by Keith Mahon and Simon Brazier.

Renegades now need to win one more game in order to be crowned champions and will need to dust off their wounds before the game against Teachers next Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the ladies team drew 2-2 with Police.
