Bonus point win against Police completes unbeaten calendar year

Renegades finished the year off in style with 6 try victory against the Police.

Renegades started strongly, nearly scoring with 8 pick up from the first scrum. A couple of other early chances were butchered by some dropped passes from Mcglynn. The Police try line was finally crossed when chief-goal-hanger Jimmy Bum crashed over for the first try after 15 minutes.

There were strong performances from the youngsters in the team, with Tony Man-Bun putting his marker down to take over the place in the back row that has been vacated by everyone's favourite disabled Scotsman. A great break from Man-Bun and offload to former TN Tatem player Jacobe, led to Renegades second try which was scored by Bermuda's top calf stretcher.

PK Skips kept himself in the running to retain clubman of the year title, by ensuring that his shirt does not need to be washed for the 4th week in a row. He even managed to win 4 rucks just by using his fingertips.

The second half saw the long awaited return of the self-proclaimed top try scorer. There were serious concerns that with Jahan and Jimmy on the pitch at the same time that there may not be any room on the wing for our actual wingers. Finally recovered from his beetroot removal surgery, Jahan began his campaign for the top try scorer title with 2 tries in 20 minutes.

The coaches will be happy with the defensive performance, with the Renegades senior citizens preventing the Police from accessing the Renegades try line. They did come close on several occasions with Rich Pigs-In-Blankets having to put in a try saving tackle after Canadian terrorist Geoff passed the ball into the hands of the Police's fat back.

However, a long range effort from Healy gave Renegades the bonus point. Breaking from his own 22, Healy looked left to find salad-dodger Mcglynn in support and decided to go it alone. Later on Mcglynn made a break of his own, but decided to pass to Bum rather than ran the last 5 metres himself. If you didn't know better, you would have guessed that Bum had paid him give him the ball so that he could increase his try tally.

Barry Archiballs proved that he is not bad at kicking when he turns up sober, knocking over all 6 conversions and a penalty to make the final score 45-3.

With the Captain off-island for the next few weeks, Vice-Captain Simon Petting-Zoo will be putting the squad through their paces this week with 2 white-board sessions at the Beach in preparation for Christmas Shopping on Saturday. The Renegades might be unbeaten on the field this year, but the pundits are predicting a heavy defeat for the Renegades next weekend.

The ladies had another tough day at the office facing their arch nemesis Police again for the millionth time this season. Police grabbed an early Try but appearing to get faster with age, Melissa flew up the wing to square things up at 1-1 just before half time. In the second half the Ladies went up 2-1 after Mulligan chipped the ball over the unsuspecting heads of the Blonde Army and dived over the line. Ref Terry, famous for his controversial line calls, questioned whether Mulligan was in fact dummy half. After a rather blasphemous outburst swearing on the life of hers, her Granny's and the next door neighbours Cat, Terry agreed that for once he was wrong and the Try was awarded. The little Irish terrier got back in her box.
Unfortunately the lead wouldn't last though and Police sneaked one over the line from a 5 metre touch. The game ended 2-2 but the Ladies remain 3 points clear at the top of the table.

Afterwards the Ladies 2nds Team put in a great performance against Police with Rookie Nicola getting her first Club Try.
The game ended 1-1. The 2nds unfortunately then lost 1-0 to Mariners & Teachers, despite an epic chase down from a tinseled goddess who's shin pads weren't as aerodynamic as she had hoped.
